| Whore on Melrose I saw a whore on Melrose Avenue, standing like a paper flower in the sunlight, standing so cool in the noon's heat. I could not see her eyes, but felt the space she saw, that shadowy place beyond light, where she could walk with impunity, and dance to music that sang out from all the windows, and fell on all the streets there. | |
