NECROSIS
At the end God destroyed the heavens and
the earth. The earth was polluted with sulphur-dioxide
and hatred, and selfishness contaminated
the face of the deep. And God said, 'Look
at this evil.' And the evening and the morning
were the trillion and first day. And God
saw that it was bad.
And God's gaze sounded the upper firmament,
crowded with the junk of satellites. And
the evening and the morning were the trillion
and second day of cosmic disaster.
And God watched vegetation wilting, plants
sterilised by radiation, fruit trees exfoliated.
And God saw that it was bad. And the evening
and the morning were the trillion and third
day.
And God's eyes were obscured by toxic smog
so that there was no longer a divide between
day and night. And God saw that it was bad.
And the evening and the morning were the
trillion and fourth day.
And God scanned waters choked by algae, scummed
by detergent, with their swarms of dying
creatures, their birds floating in dumped
oil. And God saw that it was bad. And He
cursed His creatures saying, 'Be barren and
dwindle, and empty the waters in the seas,
and let the birds drop dying to the earth.'
And the evening and the morning were the
trillion and fifth day.
And God said, 'Let the earth lose its plague
of living creatures according to their kinds:
cattle and creeping things and beasts of
the earth by BSE and fungus and virus according
to their kinds. Man and woman, no longer
in My image, have abused their dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the birds of
the air, and over the cattle, and over all
the earth, and over every creeping thing
that creeps upon the earth. They have subdued
the earth and subjugated it.' And God saw
everything that he had made, and, behold,
it was very bad. And the evening and the
morning were the trillion and sixth day.
And on the trillion and seventh day God obliterated
His creation.
