A Diet of Cat

A DIET OF CAT

In Holy Writ it’s written

that any bit of kitten

tastes better than a setter

and more feudal than a poodle.

The true devout won’t call in doubt

such truths, nor shout, 'It’s up the spout! ’

To dine upon a feline

is ecstatically pneumatic.

Do you want a flatter brat? –

Then fatten him on cat:

he’ll hog it if it’s moggy,

but mostly if it’s roasted.

Cat kebab becomes a habit

(on the slab it looks like rabbit);

it will not mew in Irish stew,

nor purr however hard you stir.
