LANDFALL
LCT 7074 MOVES TO MUSEUM

In 1974 I left Liverpool and travelled down to Hayle in Cornwall to take possession of an ex-Isle of Wight Car Ferry which Colin and I had purchased from The I. O. W. Steamship Company.

The vessel was called  The Westward Ho. Shortly afterwards we bought it we officially renamed her The North Westwared Ho. Luckily the berth in Cornwall was a tidal one where the dock dried out at certain states of the sea,. With the help of some of the staff who had accompanied me down south we were able re-paint of the vessel's hull and replace the sacrificial anodes in between tides,  thereby avoiding the need to pay expensive dry-docking fees when we eventually towed her up to Manchester.

There is a separate section in this website (accessible via the Home Page) which tells the story of our experiences after acquiring and fitting out  the ex-car-ferry for its role as another floating nightclub in Manchester and our sunsequent purchase of an ex-RAF Dehavilland Comet aircraft which was flown from St Ives Air force station to Ringway Airort in Manchester  with Colin and I aboard, then taken to Pomona Dock Manchester and placed on the car park along side our new Floating Night Club
After I returned to the North West of England from Cornwall,  I spent a year working on the North Westward Ho in Machester and after the completion of its conversion and the official opening to the public I returned to Liverpool to resume my role as the licencee of the Clubship Landfall, whilst Colin moved to Manchester to take up his position as licencee and director  in charge of the new North Westward Ho  enterprise.

Not long after my return to Liverpool Colin and I came to a mutually amicable  financial arrangement which allowed me to leave the company and pursue what I have always really wanted - an opportunity to pursue an academic life.

Although it did not work out precisely as I had planned, I did complete my first year at Liverpool University and passed all the first year exams in Linguistics, Italian and English Literature.  I had to wait until many years later before I could continue with my BA studies and concentrate on the subjects of philosophy and ontology which  I love
