The Bequest

Because we - your parent’s generation gave you the best, you're the tallest, healthiest, brightest and probably the best looking generation to inhabit these islands.  Because we are materialists, you will work fewer hours, learn more, have more leisure time, travel to places that are more distant and have more chance to follow your life's ambition. 

In addition our parents' generation fought man's grisliest war and were the people who defeated the tyranny of Hitler, and who then  when it was all over, had the compassion to help their former enemies to rebuild their homelands.

     Perhaps you will perfect the social mechanisms by which all men may follow their ambitions without the threat of force.  Moreover, if your generation can make as much progress in as many areas as these three generations that precede you have done, you should be able to solve a good many of the world's remaining ills.  May you do it by hard work, humanity, hope and faith in mankind."
