RELIGION, MATHEMATICS AND PHILO-PSYCHOLOGIC
LET’S PRETEND
Dualism is an essential component of a psycho-religious
consolidatory control activity which is one
of the most successful manipulation-mechanisms
in the history of mankind. Dualism had its
origins in human ignorance - a condition
of the brain which is responsible for its
current continuance. The doctrine that reality consists of two basic opposing elements,
often taken to be mind and matter (or mind
and body), or good and evil has its roots
in animism (from Latin anima (soul, life) a philosophical, religious or spiritual
idea that souls or spirits exist not only in humans and human artifacts
like totems, crosses, fetishes, statues, and sacrificial
stones and wells, but also in other animals, plants, rocks and natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions, tsunami waves, floods,
lightning and geographic features such as woodland groves, sacred mountains or rivers, or other entities of the compendium of man-made
and natural objects that populated the environment
in which man found himself.
As philosophers we call such primitive attitudes
hylozoism which is the philosophical conjecture that
all or some material things possess life,
or that all life is inseparable from matter
and that such beliefs are directed at an
ignorant humanity in order to establish a
behaviour supportive of the shamanistic or
priestly objectives of hieratical domination
via the fear and reverence of an imaginarium
of gods and spirits with whom they act as
self appointed intermediatories.
It is often said that when a man confronts
an area of ignorance or a cognitive gap he is (perhaps evolutionarily) predetermined
to fill it in, or at least has a tendency
to acquiesce or respond positively to the
suggestions of others who provide what seems
to be a reasonable explanation for a given phenomena. In fact this often
results in the supposition of brute ignorance with a more sophisticated ignorance. The dualistic explanations provided are
imaginative and non-evidentiary and only
reasoned in the sense that their acceptance installs
the reasoners in positions of societal dominance,
either as a sacerdotal theocratic hierarchy
under a high priest (see modern Iran) or
a god-king, (see 20th century Japan) or both.
Though in the societies of the developed
world the dualistic beliefs of sacerdotal
hierarchies under high priests are
still
shared amongst the ignorant masses,
the worship
of a god-king is nowadays less popular
amongst
the hoi polloi.
Historically it is true that until quite
recently the twitching death-throes of some
cultish rumps could still be seen around
the world. They were usually centered upon
deified living kings, emperors, and the religious
incarnations of gods such as the Chinese
pseudo-Christian leader Hong Xiuquan or the Korean Buddhist monk Gung-ye, King of Taebong.
In our modern era worship of the more well
known Japanese emperor Hirohito (whose name
was on the lips of the young Japanese troops
as they charged to their death into battle
during World War II and the worship of his
descendants in modern Japan has gradually
been abandoned by the educated young, the
Dalai Lamas of Tibet continues to be revered by his
devotees in that exotic but backward land
as the rebirth of a long line of tulkus, who have chosen to be reborn in order to
enlighten others.
Only the abstract gods remain supported as
they are by the notion of the necessary dualisms
that sustain them. Not only does humankind
remain unrescued from this psycho-religious aberrancy, the
virus of dualism has insinuated itself and
become internalised by the masses and has
become an acceptable feature of the physical
correlates of the cognisant brain which has
become infected with the most irrational
of unphysical correspondences.
Leaving general science with reifications
and its let's pretend correlates of time, motion, cause and change
aside - even mathematics (often referred
to as the King of Arts and the Queen of all Sciences) has become invaded by a monstrous imaginata
of directly religious origin and provenance
called sets which form a mental image of something that
is not present or that is not the case that
were initiated by Cantor and improvised from
the ravings of a cult of Russian mystics
known as Name Worshippers. [1] (Graham and Kantor. 2009. P. 2)
Though developed in the latter part of the
nineteenth century, the methodologies of
mystical Name Worshipping, which basically
means: things can be created just by naming them (compare Alexius Meinong 1853 - 1920)) were
introduced to and enthusiastically welcomed
into the world of mathematics by the Russian
religious heretics Nikolai Luzin, Dmitri Egorov and Pavel Florensky in the early part of the twentieth century.
Georg Cantor’s famous (infamous) statement
about mathematical freedom had been
like
a breath of fresh air to the hereticate
Slavic
mystics:
|
...das Wesen der Mathematik liegt gerade
in ihrer Freiheit (the essence of mathematics
resides in its freedom) [2] (ibid. p. 96)
|
Accustomed as they were to the sets
of hierarchical
celestial beings who populate the categories
and classes and sets of angelic existences
in the De Coelesti Hierarchia, they saw the immediate benefit of Naming
to a Cantorian freed, transcendentalist mathematics
of their practice of naming God and his be-winged
underlings and his miscellaneous sets of
angels, archangels, cherubim and others with
WORDS.
Such existentially wordified coelestial collections
were claimed to exist in a number of religious
traditions, including Christianity, Islam,
Judaism, and Zoroastrianism and are apparently
needed for the proper arrangement and understanding
of the heavenly hierarchical structures which
apparently brought such primitive abstractions
into existence as real things in the minds
of the faithful, could also serve to tidy
up some ideative mathematical problems of
proof (least of all with regard to the abstraction
infinity) and would at the same time rescue mankind from the burgeoning materialist-determinism
of analytic realism rather than the
preferred
transcendentalist Imaginational or
intuitive
science.

Angels are divided into three hierarchies
each of which contains three orders. Their
proximity to the Supreme Being serves as
the basis of this division. In the first
hierarchy he places the Seraphim, Cherubim,
and Thrones; in the second, the Dominations,
Virtues, and Powers; in the third, the Principalities,
Archangels, and Angels. The only Scriptural
names furnished of individual angels are
Raphael, Michael, and Gabriel, names which
signify their respective attributes. Apocryphal
Jewish books, such as the Book of Enoch,
supply those of Uriel and Jeremiel, while
many are found in other apocryphal sources,
like those Milton names in Paradise Lost" [3] (answers. yahoo.)
|
Andrei Bely, student of the mathematicians Egorov and Bugaev and the classmate of Luzin and Florensky made the following statement on the power
of naming:
When I name an object with a word,
I thereby assert its existence.
|
Does this apply both to mathematics and poetry?
If the object is a new type of infinity,
does that infinity exist just after you name
it? [4] (Graham/Kantor.
2009. P. 98)
|
Perhaps Bely was influenced by the
words
of his classmate Luzin who proclaimed:
|
We, in our mind, consider natural numbers
objectively existing. We, in our mind, consider
the totality of all natural numbers objectively
existing. We, finally, consider the totality
of all transfinite numbers of the Second
Class objectively existing
[5] (ibid. p. 99.) |
Thus was the ontologically impure and religiously
mystical introduced into mathematics and
feloniously named pure mathematics. Thus what was becoming an increasingly discoverable
very much un-mystical physical universe spoken
of as representing the the mystical beauty of the mathematical universe.
Thus was academia invaded by a professoriate
of religious naifs hysterically urging
their
students onward in a god-like nominatival-nomological
creation of pseudo-mathematical entities.
These are the juvenile products of
let's pretend constructed by religious fanatics posing
as mathematical scientists with which
our
young students of mathematics are being
infected
in our universities.
In spite of the ravings of the believers,
patently there is no God to help western science and culture if it
continues to rely on such worthless abstraction.
As the religious majority of the west seem
hypnotised by dualism in almost every aspect
of its thinking (indeed in the very language
with which it communicates) and appears content
to sit on the ontological sidelines as western
culture slips into the abyss of a false analyticity,
to where or to whom, other than to scientists
who have managed to liberate themselves from
reification, must we turn to be rescued in
our battle with the forces of the ignorant,
the uneducated and the irredeemably brainwashed
and those who lack a sufficient state of
culture and quality of social development
in both our own and in other societies.
